Three Tips to Prepare Your Home and Yard for Spring Weather

We had our first taste of spring-like weather across the area last week. Temperatures in the 60’s and 70’s gave us our first spring vibe and made us anxious to enter into warmer weather again! If you’re like us and want to get a jump-start on your spring preparations while we have a few nice days on the horizon, here are three tips to help you get your home prepared for spring!

Clean Up Flowerbeds and Gardens
Although it is too early to start planting many new shrubs, flowers and plants in your garden, it is never too early to prepare your grounds for planting! Take advantage of the warm days we have, the soft soil from the rain during the winter months and start cleaning up your beds! Remove old plants (as long as they aren’t slated to come up again this year), remove any leaves or debris that may have fallen over the fall and winter months, and start laying any new borders around the perimeter!

Pick Up Trash, Sticks and Leaves from Yard
Colder weather often means we neglect our yards during the winter months. Take this time to start blowing leaves, picking up any trash that may have made its way into your yard and any limbs or debris that has collected over the last few months. When it is time to bust out the lawn mower for the first time, you’ll be ready to cut grass and will not have to worry about the yard clean up beforehand!

Purchase Supplies for Pressure Washing and Staining Your Deck or Outdoor Spaces
Ever have one of those gorgeous weather days where you are just itching to be outside after a long winter, but realize you don’t have the supplies needed to get your job done? Head to your local home improvement store and pick up any supplies you’ll need this spring to get your yard, porch or deck in tip-top shape. Think cleaners, a new hose, wood stain and any other tools you may need.
