Easy Ways to Decorate Your Home for Thanksgiving

Halloween has come and gone and many are starting to put up their Christmas holiday decorations. But, what about Thanksgiving? If you’re planning on having guests over on Thanksgiving Day and are looking to decorate your home to make it festive, without going straight into Christmas decorations, here are a few tips to dress your home up for the Thanksgiving holiday. Best part? They won’t break the bank!

Utilize pumpkins from Halloween to create an autumn-themed centerpiece
Just because Halloween is over doesn’t mean you have to stow your pumpkins for next year! Pumpkins, real and artificial, serve as great decorations for your home, all autumn long! Break out those pumpkins and create a centerpiece on your dining table. Plus, if your real pumpkins have already gone bad, many retailers have autumn decor on sale for much lower than before the start of the season!

Make a beautiful leaf display from colorful leaves in your yard
A fun project, especially for children, is to collect beautifully colored leaves from the yard! With those leaves, place them between two sheets of wax paper and iron them on a low heat setting. This will help to preserve and flatten the leaves. Once cooled, place into a photo frame for a fun, autumn-themed wall display!

Use an existing vase and fill with artificial leaves, pumpkins and flowers
Have an old flower vase laying around? Wrap the bottom with burlap or twine and fill it up with an arrangement of flowers, artificial leaves and pumpkins to make a beautiful table-top display!

Create an autumn-colored banner to place across your mantle
Take a long strand of twine, some construction paper and a marker to make a homemade. banner for your mantle. Print out a stencil of a leaf and trace it onto the construction paper. Cut out each construction paper leaf, punch a hole in the top and assemble your strand. Leave it as-is or write a letter on each leaf.
